KIRIBATI DISAPPEARING ?

The tsunami Thomas has killed 20,000 people and has done approximatly one billion dollards of damage.

In fact the nineteen of september of two thousand and nineteen, the islands of Kiribati, that is an archipelagic state in the Pacific ocean, has been stroken by the most dangerous tsunami Kiribati has ever seen.

This tsunami was the consequence of an earthquake of magnitude 7.3 that has ever destroyed lots of thached hut and has uptrooded palm trees. The epicenter was located 75 miles away.

This earthquake is not the first since 2010. Precisely, Kiribati suffer severely from the climate change and from the sea level rise. Since 2015 the water level have increase to 6.5ft. After the tsunami Thomas this sea level rise increase to 8ft.

The most vulnerable from this disasters are the inhabitants because they are too poor.

"I haven't money, I haven't house and my children haven't anything to eat. It's the biggest tsunami I have ever seen !". Exclaim Adela Mason, affected by the tsunami Thomas.

To obtain more informations we have interviewed Anote Tong, the president of Kiribati.

"I haven't any way to tell the inhabitants because the country is very poor. However, there are trainning from the young age to limit the bilan humain."

"The older persons who live in the island since they are born want to die here. And the young persons who support our economy leave the island from others countries. The most shocking it is the big hotels who they are coming over the island to welcome the richest of the others countries. While there are people dying near."

"Like I said there are trainning from the young age. Morever the State is establishing with the police force and the NGO some relocation services. And we are trying to persuade the population to leave with the aid of a little budget."

We hope that the president has been correctly listening and that some aid will come very fast to rebuild the countries and protect the inhabitants.
